You are talking to someone who has nothing to lose.
I am, and all my parts remain immutably mine.
You are speaking to the possessor of gifts
too numerous to name, to a mind which can't hesitate
to produce at full speed before going to waste,
a brain that's recently learned there is a deadline
for all contributions to the great concept, humanity.

I have broken all bonds with the ordinary.
I offer a measure of understanding beyond
the emotional experience of reality.
You are talking to someone who has already died
in a greater sense and leads a greater life.
I will sing my way to the camps. Hold the tiny hands
that cling to me as if to something more divine than man.

Note: A symbol of Jewish martyrdom during World War II, Korczak directed an orphanage for Jewish children. When offered the opportunity to save his own life, he refused, saying that he could not be separated from his orphans. He was later killed with them.
