3. Dream of the Possibilities

This was shot from the top step by my front door, looking out over Uncle Sam onto the small central herb bed. I grow lavendar, chives, scallions, parsley, thyme, apple mint and cat-mint (aka catnip, for the house cat), rosemary, basil, and a few other fragrant herbs. At the time this was taken, the daylilies I interplanted in the herb bed had burst into bloom.

Here is a better shot of the bed, with the ineffable Bobo relaxing in front of them, guarding Mommy's domain. (Or is he listening to Pan pipe the celestial music of the spheres?)

On the left, you see a bunch of sweet alyssum, whose scent reminds me of sugared honey. You can also see some white heliotrope at the front of the herb bed. These are a must for any garden, easy to grow and giving off an intense fragrance of vanilla. I've placed a high priority on scent in the last two years...and it has paid off. When I step out my front door, I am blasted with intoxicating natural perfumes.
