More Blooms For Summer

Lilac-colored dahlias and Cosmos daisies, with
heliotrope (vanilla-scented!) peeping beneath the Cosmos.
Red impatiens surround the obligatory birdbath.
(Every garden should have one to help the birds along.)
The thick shrubs behind the dahlias are the runty
babes planted in 1992.
1997 will be their best year yet. Even as I type,
they are climbing
to the skies and covered with buds, waiting to bloom.
